mixin' it up
Yesterday we mastered our new album with Don Bartley at 301 studios in Sydney. The recording has 5 tracks in which we added effects, boosted volumes, and gave dynamics. To put into simpler terms, we made it sound FAT. Fatter than most fat things you've ever considered fat. After a 6 hour train ride and no sleep due to an abnormally loud snorer in the same carriage, i spent the early hours of the morning skateboarding around the streets of sydney through the masses of white-collar workers on their way to another day of work. It was quite a strange experience i must say. I was completely aware of everything happening around me although it definately didn't feel like it should be happening at that particular time.

Observing this began to make me wonder where i came into the picture, or whether i belong there at all. I also wondered where my band was. It was almost 10'clock, time to get to the studio, so i rolled on my board to the building marked 301. Up on the 7th floor i sat on a nice lounge in the foyer of the studio, drinking the strongest coffee i have ever dared to drink. 7 minutes passed and the bouys arrived, smiles on faces and very stoked at what was about to take place. I met Don Bartley for the first time and he's a very cool and professional dude, having mixed such bands as the gurge, whitlams, henry's anger and countless other recordings. We spent about 6 hours getting the music sounding sweet and preparing the songs for CD...a very productive day to say the least. The final product now looks a bit closer in the horison, some artwork to touch up and thats about it.
